About Bay City, Michigan
Established in 1837, Bay City was originally known as “Lower Saginaw” until Bay County was organized in 1857. It was during that time that Bay City came to be called what it is today.
Near Saginaw, the waters were too shallow for ships that needed to ship lumber in order to build and produce more ships. This caused an influx of citizens to settle in Bay City, where the waters were deep enough for ships to navigate.
Being situated so perfectly near navigable water, where the economy heavily relied on shipping, gave Bay City the boost it needed to develop into a 2000-strong bustling community by 1860.
Today, Bay City has a population of roughly 35,000 and remains (by the slightest margin) the largest U.S. city by population on or near Lake Huron.

We suggest trying the Flower Onion to start and moving on to their salads made with fresh greens and finishing off with a filling plate of baby back ribs that just fall off the bone. If you like Polish food, stop by Krzysiak’s House Restaurant. Their authentic Polish cuisine really shines in their entree and soup selections. Consider trying the popular “duck blood soup,” Czarnina, or their Polish take on a Philly Cheese Steak, Don’s Polish Philly. Don’t forget to try out their lunch buffet for a sampling of their different flavors!
